David Baize graduated from Western Kentucky University (WKU) in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology, and he later completed a master’s program from WKU with an emphasis in Hydrology. David started with DHEC as a project hydrogeologist in 1988. During his time at DHEC, David worked in several Bureau of Water program areas including Groundwater Availability and Salt-Water Intrusion, Surface Water Permitting, and helped staff the 2003 Governor’s Water Law Review committee. David served as Chief of the Bureau of Water before his retirement from DHEC in 2018. He is currently the Executive Director for the South Carolina Water Association’s (Water Environment Association of South Carolina and the South Carolina American Water Works Association). The SC Water Associations have over 3800 members and provides continuing education to those in the water industry and advocates for water resources.
